Backed by 11,170 fans and guided by a first-year coach alongside a new star player, the Los Angeles Sparks stood firm against the disciplined Minnesota Lynx during the first half but eventually fell 89-75 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Lynx captain Napheesa Collier demonstrated her position as a leading player in the league, topping the visiting team's performance with 23 points and six rebounds. The supporting players were as balanced as a protein bar. Courtney Williams contributed 13 points and 10 assists, forward Alanna Smith impressed with 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting, while Jessica Shepard added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Sparks fiercely contested against the seasoned Lynx team but were unable to withstand the powerful offense from last year's WNBA finalists. Azura Stevens led the Sparks with 21 points, while Dearica Hamby contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Kelsey Plum ended with 18 points and five assists.

The Lynx have kept a flawless 2-0 record, winning both games away from home, while the Sparks have split their initial two games, resulting in a 1-1 record. Coach Lynn Roberts remarked, "We need to build stronger mental resilience. Without it, things become more worrisome. I trust these players, and I know they are as eager to win as I am. It will happen."
