WATCH: Show Goes On At Rainy Rose Parade

PASADENA, CA --- Rain rang in the new year at the 137th Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, California, but that didn’t stop the floral procession.

It is the first time in 20 years that wet weather has occurred on the same day as the Rose Parade, with attendees donning ponchos and umbrellas.

The downpour, separated by intermittent showers throughout the day, was part of a larger holiday storm in the Los Angeles Basin, with Pasadena receiving over 10 inches of rain in a two-week period that also included Christmas, according to weather reports from the National Weather Service.

The rain didn’t stop attendee Charles Smith, who visited from Indianapolis, from taking in the blossoms.

“I celebrated my fourth birthday here in Pasadena,” Smith said. “And now, coming back to see Pasadena in the rain, it was just an amazing parade.”
