Allemand, Barker Drafted in WNBA Expansion
LOS ANGELES - Guards Julie Allemand and Sarah Ashlee Barker were drafted in Friday’s WNBA Expansion Draft 2026 presented by State Street Investment Management Spy. Allemand was selected second overall by the Toronto Tempo, while Barker was drafted by the Portland Fire in the second round.
In Allemand’s lone season suiting up for the Sparks, the point guard averaged 5.4 points, 5.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 34 games.
“Julie brought a versatile skill set to the Sparks, highlighted by her elite court vision and selfless play,” Sparks General Manager Raegan Pebley said. “Toronto is gaining a talented player and an exceptional teammate, and we wish her continued success.”
As a rookie for the Sparks in 2025, Barker averaged 3.1 points and 1.9 rebounds over 34 games (eight starts).
“Sarah Ashlee is a young player who embodies the competitiveness, attitude and work ethic every organization values,” said Pebley. “She’s a promising talent who approaches the game the right way, and Portland is gaining both a competitor and an incredible person. We wish her the very best in this next chapter.”
