LOS ANGELES—-The atmosphere was electric right before kick off. With their season hanging in the balance, Angel City FC made it clear: they will not be bullied in its fourth meeting with OL Reign.

With its attack back in full force, Angel City nips sixth seeded OL Reign 2-1 infront of a sold out crowd of 22,000 at their home field, the BMO stadium.

French striker Clarisse Le Bihan opened up the scoring in the 13th minute off a quick counter attack that left OL Reign’s defense flatfooted.

Angel City kept the momentum in the 2nd half and scored their 2nd goal off a nice set piece delivery finding midifielder Madison Hammond unmarked upfront and slipping the ball past OL Reign’s keeper Claudia Dickey.

USWNT and OL Reign Striker Megan Rapinoe scored the lone goal for the visiting team via penalty in the 74th minute. There were no signs of nerves from the soccer legend as she was cool like a cucumber kicking the ball past Angel City FC’s keeper Didi Haracic.

With this win, Angel City moves up to 9th place in the NWSL with a record of 5 wins, 6 draws, and 6 losses. Their next match is scheduled on Sept 1st on the road against KC Current.
