EMMA SAYS
“These are three teams that will likely be in the World Cup in 2027 and of course we’ll likely see Canada in World Cup qualifying at the end of the year, so when focusing on our continued preparations and growth as a team, the SheBelieves Cup is of great value,” said U.S. head coach Emma Hayes. “Each team brings different strengths and will challenge us to find success in all parts of the field, which is exactly what we need as we continue our process to build toward the big events on the horizon.”
SBC PARTICIPANT HISTORY
Colombia will be making its second appearance in the SheBelieves Cup after attending last year and finishing third. Canada will be making its fourth appearance after participating in 2024 (second place), 2023 (fourth) and 2021 (third). This is Argentina’s second SBC appearance after finishing fourth in 2021. The USA had won five consecutive SheBelieves Cups before Japan took the title in 2025. The USA has seven overall SBC titles, while France won in 2017 and England took top honors in 2019.

TOBIN HEATH: HONORING A LEGEND
Before the USA’s match against Colombia at Sports Illustrated Stadium on March 7, USWNT legend and 2026 National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee Tobin Heath will be honored with a pregame retirement celebration. The New Jersey native played 181 times for the USA from 2008-2021 and scored 36 goals while helping the USA win two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals. She announced her retirement last July and will be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame on May 1, 2026.
USWNT SCHEDULE
The matches of the 2026 SheBelieves Cup will be the third, fourth and fifth domestic games of the new year as the USWNT continues its preparations to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Brazil. The 2026 Concacaf W Championship will kick off in November at a venue(s) still to be determined. That tournament will feature the USA and Canada along with six qualifier winners with berths to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on the line. As host, the USA has an automatic berth to the next Olympic games.
The SheBelieves Cup will be the second event for the USWNT in 2026 as the team will come together for a January training camp in Los Angeles that will run from January 17-27 and feature matches against Paraguay on Jan. 24 at Dignity Health Sports Park and against Chile on Jan. 27 at Harder Stadium on the campus of UC Santa Barbara.
VISA SHEBELIEVES CUP MVP
For the seventh year in a row, Visa, the presenting partner of the SheBelieves Cup, will award the MVP trophy to the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. The award will be announced following the conclusion of the final match. Spain’s Alexia Putellas – the Ballon d’Or winner in both 2021 and 2022 -- won the inaugural award in 2020. The USA claimed top honors for the next four years as Rose Lavelle won the award in 2021, Catarina Macario won it in 2022, Mallory Swanson took home the trophy in 2023 and Sophia Smith (now Wilson) claimed MVP honors in 2024. In 2025, Japan’s Mina Tanaka, who plays in the NWSL with the Utah Royals, won the award. A new selection committee comprised of representatives from all competing nations will be announced for the 2026 SheBelieves Cup while fans will once again have the opportunity to vote for the Visa SheBelieves Cup MVP award recipient via online ballot to select among a list of finalists chosen by the committee. The fan vote will be incorporated into the overall determination of the 2026 Visa SheBelieves Cup MVP.

Additional Notes:
All three of the 2026 SheBelieves Cup venues have hosted matches in the tournament in the past.
ScottsMiracle-Gro Field most recently hosted the championship game of the tournament in 2024 when the tournament was held in a four-game, two-venue format for the first time, which will be the case moving forward in Olympic years. In that championship game, the USA tied Canada, 2-2, and then won the tournament in penalty kicks as the now-retired Alyssa Naeher epically saved three spot kicks and converted one herself.
Columbus also hosted a SBC doubleheader played in icy cold weather in 2018 which featured the USA’s 1-0 win over Germany, but that was at the Historic Crew Stadium before ScottsMiracle-Gro Field opened in 2021.
Nashville hosted the USA’s second-ever SheBelieves Cup match, a 1-0 win over France at Nissan Stadium in 2016. GEODIS Park hosted its first SBC matches in 2023, which featured a 1-0 U.S. win over Japan.
Sports Illustrated Stadium has welcomed the most SBC matches of these three venues, having hosted doubleheaders in 2017, 2018 and 2020.
The USWNT will be playing its 10th overall game in Tennessee -- home state of U.S. Soccer President and Memphis native Cindy Parlow Cone -- and its seventh game in Nashville, but just its third at GEODIS Park. The USA has never lost in Tennessee.
The USWNT has been playing matches in Ohio since the early 1990s, but this will be just the third match at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field, following matches in April of 2022 and April of 2024. The U.S. Women played nine matches at Historic Crew Stadium before the opening of the Crew’s new venue.
This will be the seventh meeting between the USA and Argentina with the USA having won all six previous matches. The most recent meeting was a 3-0 U.S. victory in Louisville, Ky., in Oct. of 2024.
This year’s SheBelieves Cup marks yet another match in the long-time series against Canada, the USA’s most frequent opponent at 67 all-time meetings. The USA holds a 54W-4L-9D all-time record against Canada with the most recent being a 3-0 win for the USA during the Allstate Continental Clásico last July 2 in Washington, D.C.
This will be the USA’s 15th meeting with Colombia, eight of which have occurred since 2021. The most recent meeting was in the first match of 2025, a 2-0 win to open the 2025 SheBelieves Cup. The USA is 12W-0L-2D all-time against Las Cafeteras.
Colombia put in an admirable showing at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, advancing out of the Group A in third place after a narrow 3-2 loss to France, a 2-0 win over New Zealand and a 1-0 loss to Canada. Las Cafeteras had a 2-0 lead over reigning FIFA Women’s World Cup winners Spain in the quarterfinal until Las Rojas pulled one back in the 79th and dramatically tied the game seven minutes into second-half stoppage time. Colombia would eventually fall in a penalty kick shootout, 4-2.
