U.S. Women’s National Team Will Face Brazil in São Paulo and Fortaleza in June

U.S. WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM WILL TRAVEL TO FACE BRAZIL TWICE IN JUNE  WITH MATCHES IN SÃO PAULO AND FORTALEZA 

USWNT Will Play As Canarinhas in Brazil for First Time Since 2014; 

Matches Will Take Place on June 6 at Neo Química Arena in São Paulo and on June 9 at Arena Castelão in Fortaleza; Both Venues Will Host Matches in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup;  Game on June 6 Will Be a Part of TNT Broadcast Doubleheader with the USMNT Coca-Cola Send-Off Match 

ATLANTA (April 23, 2026) – The U.S. Women’s National Team will play two matches in Brazil during the June international window, facing the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup hosts on June 6 at Neo QuímicaArena in São Paulo (5:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. local time on TBS, Max, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock) and on June 9 at Arena Castelão in Fortaleza (8:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 p.m. local time on TNT, Max and Peacock). Both matches will also be broadcast on the radio on Westwood One. The USA currently sits second in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings while Brazil is sixth. 

The match on June 6 will be the second of a broadcast doubleheader that will also feature the U.S. Men's National Team in the Coca-Cola Send-Off Match against Germany from Chicago’s Soldier Field. This will be the USMNT’s final match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 

Both USA-Brazil matches are being played at venues that will host matches in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.  In a unique occurrence in the history of the U.S. Women’s national Team program, the U.S. Under-23 WNT will also travel to Brazil during this FIFA window and will face several top professional clubs in São Paulo. 

The matches will mark the first games for the U.S. Women against Brazil in Brazil since 2014 and will serve as valuable preparation experience should the USWNT qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup this coming fall at the 2026 Concacaf W Championship. The USWNT has played Brazil 43 times in its history, but just six of those matches have taken place in Brazil: two in 1996, two in 1997, and most recently two in 2014. The USA is 2W-2L-2D all-time against Brazil in Brazil, long one of the most difficult places to play in women’s international soccer. 

“I’m so pleased we were able to schedule these games,” said U.S. head coach Emma Hayes. “We want to play the best teams in the most difficult environments at venues across the world as often as we can, and these two games check all those boxes. We need more games in which every fan in the stadium is cheering loudly against us and I’m looking forward seeing how our team performs and grows in these adverse conditions.”  

The USA did play four matches in Brazil during the 2016 Olympics and also played two matches against teams other than Brazil at a tournament there in 1996 during the early stages of preparation for the Atlanta Olympics. 

The USA and Brazil met most recently in two matches in April of 2025, a 2-0 U.S. win at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., and a 2-1 U.S. loss at PayPal Park in San Jose, Calif. in a match in which the USA started its least capped lineup to that date in the past 25 years. The USA holds a 34W-4L-5D all-time record against Brazil. 

There is certainly some familiarity between the teams, which also met in the 2024 Olympic gold medal match in Paris, France -- a 1-0 U.S. victory on a goal from Mallory Swanson. There were also 15 Brazilian players on NWSL opening weekend rosters this season. 

Neo Química Arena, which seats just over 49,000, is home to Corinthians, one of Brazil’s most historic and famous teams, while Arena Castelão, which seats more than 57,000, is home to two teams currently in the second division, Fortaleza Esporte Clube and Ceará Sporting Club. 

Both Neo Química Arena (which will be called Arena Itaquera during the World Cup) and Arena Castelão will host matches in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Matches will also take place in Belo Horizonte (Estádio Mineirão), Brasília (Estádio Nacional), Porto Alegre (Estádio Beira-Rio), Recife (Arena de Pernambuco), Rio de Janeiro (Estádio do Maracanã) and Salvador (Arena Fonte Nova). The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final Draw will likely take place in December of 2026.
