Google Acquires XR Talent and IP License from HTC in $250M Deal


Google has signed a $250 million agreement with HTC to acquire XR talent and a non-exclusive license to HTC's XR intellectual property. The deal supports Google's Android XR platform expansion and reinforces HTC's focus on its VIVE XR solutions. HTC’s commitment to existing products remains unchanged, while the move strengthens Google's innovation presence in Taiwan. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2025.

Meta Reportedly Plans Smart Glasses with Display, Targeting 2025 Release at Premium Price Point

Meta is reportedly developing high-end smart glasses, codenamed 'Hypernova,' featuring a built-in display for notifications and assistant responses. Targeted for a 2025 release at around $1,000, the glasses are a step toward all-day AR wearables. Created with EssilorLuxottica, the model will supposedly join a sportier Oakley-branded version launching this year.
