Samsung Debuts Ultra-Bright Micro-OLEDs for Future XR Headsets

At SID Display Week 2025, Samsung unveiled two R&D-stage micro-OLED panels boasting up to 20,000 nits brightness, true RGB subpixels, and resolutions up to 5K. Designed for slim, high-fidelity headsets, the displays offer major gains in color, clarity, and motion handling over current tech, but at potentially higher costs.

Apple is Developing Smart Glasses to Rival Ray-Ban Meta Glasses

Apple is said to be working on low-power smart glasses powered by a custom chip derived from Apple Watch processors, aiming to rival Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. Expected to enter production by late 2026 or 2027, the device will use AI and camera-based environmental awareness, with full AR glasses still a longer-term goal.
